Welcome to 1911 United Inc.  a coalition established by members of Kappa Alpha Psi and Omega Psi Phi Fraternities in Maryland. Our mission is to serve as a civic advocacy group dedicated to supporting community causes and initiatives that enhance the lives of economically disadvantaged, at-risk, and minority populations across the state. We operate as a 501(c)(3) organization and engage in community development activities focused on low-income and disadvantaged communities.

Assist The Vet Program

Our "Assist The Vet" program provides comprehensive support to veterans as they navigate the complexities of obtaining benefits and accessing essential services. We offer employment support, essential goods drives, and conflict resolution training tailored for veterans. Our dedicated team is here to guide veterans through paperwork, educate them on available benefits, and advocate on their behalf.

Scholarship Initiative

Each year, 1911 United Inc. proudly awards the David Harrell Scholarship to an outstanding senior student in the Washington DC metro area. This scholarship is a tribute to the memory of David Harrell, a distinguished actor and esteemed member of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc.

David Harrell's legacy embodies excellence, determination, and community spirit. The scholarship is designed to recognize and support a scholarly student who demonstrates exceptional academic achievement, leadership qualities, and a commitment to service within their community

Community Development/ Youth Leadership Initiative

The 1911 United Inc. Youth Academy is a transformative educational initiative designed to empower young adults in Prince George's County with essential life skills, civic knowledge, and community engagement opportunities.

Bridging educational gaps by providing young adults with practical knowledge and experiences that are often overlooked in traditional schooling.

 Youth Academy Program Overview

Our program fosters responsible citizenship, financial literacy, and leadership development within our community and is structured around three core pillars:

  1. Civics Education: Understanding the fundamentals of government, democracy, and civic responsibility.

  2. Life Skills and Financial Literacy: Equipping students with practical skills such as budgeting, home maintenance, and financial management.

  3. Social/Political Community Engagement: Empowering students to actively participate in their communities through voter registration, political campaign awareness, and leadership development.

About the CEO, Founder 

Dr. Donjuan L. Williams

Dr. Donjuan Williams has built a distinguished career across public service, education, business, and military leadership. His educational accomplishments include earning an AA in Liberal Arts from Prince George's Community College in 1982, a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from Salisbury State University in 1983, and a Master's in Administrative Management/Human Resources Management from Bowie State University in 1992. Dr. Williams continued his education with an MBA in 2022, a Master's in Management and Leadership in 2021, and a Master's of Procurement and Acquisitions in 2020, all from Webster University. Additionally, he holds a Doctorate degree in Christian Counseling and is a licensed Chaplain from the Bible Institute of America, completed in 2022.

 

Dr. Williams' commitment to education and community development is reflected in his extensive public service. He served four terms on the Glenarden City Council and three terms as Mayor of the City of Glenarden. Following his tenure, Dr. Williams became the Director of Community Outreach/Government Relations for the Governor's Office of Children, Youth, and Families. Previously, he held positions as District Manager for Constituent Services for Congressman Albert Wynn and as a Social Worker for the Department of Social Services.

 

In 1997, Dr. Williams was elected President of Maryland Black Mayors, Inc. He also held the position of Parliamentarian on the Board of Directors of both the World Conference of Mayors and the National Conference of Black Mayors. During his last year in office, Dr. Williams was elected Vice President of the World Conference of Mayors.

 

As the founder and CEO of DJ Williams and Associates, Inc., Dr. Williams leads a company specializing in marketing, management, executive coaching, consulting, and motivational speaking. His firm excels in strategic planning, political campaign consulting, and business development.

 

Dr. Williams retired as a Chief Warrant Officer in the U.S. Army Reserves after more than 28 years of service as a Mobility Officer, which included three tours of duty in Iraq and Southwest Asia. Additionally, Dr. Williams brings over 40 years of experience as a basketball official, holding memberships in the International Association of Approved Basketball Officials and Maryland Basketball Officials Association.

 

Dr. Williams is an active member of Unity Baptist Church and a life member of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc. He is deeply involved in various youth mentoring programs, demonstrating his ongoing commitment to community service and mentorship.
